My Background

I grew up on the West Coast and earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Washington University in 2001. After graduation, I worked in the community supporting adults with severe mental illness, work that deeply shaped me and confirmed my passion for helping others. Wanting to expand how I could support people, I decided to continue my education.

With a mix of curiosity and adventure, I packed up my car and drove across the country to pursue my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling at Springfield College, which I completed in 2005. During that time, I visited Rhode Island, fell in love with its charm, and decided to make it home. Nearly 20 years later, I’m still here, licensed, practicing, and grateful to be doing the work I love.

My Approach

I don’t believe we exist in a vacuum, cut off from the people and experiences that shape us. I believe that our existence is woven layers of relationships, interactions, experiences, and memories, and it is from this understanding that I take a systems view when working with individuals. I want to understand the context, the roles each person plays, and the emotional field around them.

As a therapist, I won’t just sit there as a blank slate, reflecting back what you say; I’ll offer real feedback, challenge you when it’s helpful, and support you in seeing things from new perspectives. I'll take into account lifestyle factors like sleep, movement, nutrition, and daily routines, and how imbalances in these areas may be impacting your wellbeing. Since laughter is the best medicine, also expect a little humor to offer levity to the work.

Beyond Therapy

I feel most at home in nature and hanging out with my animals, ask me about my day and you’ll probably hear a story about the horses or something adorable the dogs did. To the surprise of my younger self, mornings have become my favorite: coffee in hand, messy hair, cozy couch, and a good read. Creativity is where I hear my inner voice most clearly. I love experimenting with photography, painting, drawing, and writing. I also have a soft spot for rescuing old furniture and giving it new life. I feel most content in the quiet rhythm of everyday moments: a drive to Charlestown, a mocha blanca from the Coffee Exchange, or soaking up the poetic wisdom of Shane Koyczan for the millionth time.

I'm happiest when I'm happy.
